An accountant met with us to discuss a new client who had previously entered into a planning arrangement. The situation had been causing them both serious concern, particularly as an Accelerated Payment Notice had been issued. We worked with the client and his adviser to review the potential liabilities and agree a payment plan with HMRC. The whole process was made much more manageable for both the accountant and his client.
We recently assisted a large corporate client with a tax enquiry that was growing out of their control. By working alongside the company’s current advisers, we reduced the scope of HMRC’s tax investigation and settled the case with minimal disruption to the business.
A solicitor initially contacted us for advice on a client’s tax disclosure, but we ended up offering more than just information. We helped to quickly prepare and submit 6 years of outstanding returns and used our expertise to mitigate any negative impact to the client by acting as a mediator with HMRC. All matters were settled within six months and even HM Revenue & Customs were satisfied with the result.
