Mike is an ex-Senior Inspector of Taxes, having begun his career in the Inland Revenue where he served for 27 years. His final position was as Assistant Director (Compliance) for Wales and West Midlands. During his time with the Revenue, he was mainly involved in undertaking serious tax investigations (under Code 8 and Code 9), with what was then called the Special Compliance Office (SCO), which has now evolved into the Specialist Investigations Unit, and in the areas of multi-national tax structures and offshore jurisdictions. Since leaving the Inland Revenue, Mike has enjoyed senior roles at Arthur Anderson and Tenon within their tax investigations and risk assurance departments. Holding a senior management post within Pathfinder he specialises in defending clients against HMRC investigations, forensic accounting and offshore tax structures and planning.
